Final Focused Plan


      My plan for my final pieces for the remaining few weeks. It still looks quite bare due to the fact that i will be just painting everyday focusing on each poster and blogging posts of the progress for each one. Five posters may be a bit of a push to complete in a week and two days, however, i believe the first poster will take me longer due to being more detail in the design. So Hopefully if my motivation stays high the other posters will be done in one/two days  total. The last couple of days will be extra little details such as arrows and setting every piece up to take photos for blog. I may use my mum to convey how small and disappointing the circus tent is at the end.

Influences: American Horror Story

Freakshow season- https://www.artofthetitle.com/feature/american-horror-story-7-seasons-of-title/     Artist, Kyle Cooper is the title designer for American Horror Story. Interview is about the creation of each title sequence and what goes into it. I will focus on Freakshow obviously for the circus theme and posters. The title sequence does include this mini circus which is incredibly cute. I would love to have a go at creating those white tents with sticks holding them up.        Other than the mini circus tent, I was mostly interested in the style of posters they used. Freakshow was set in 1952, and the poster styles look very similar to the style and colour choices of real 1950s circus posters. They had the cartoon style with rich pallet colours mainly using, red, green and blue. Sketches: Weeping Soul and Madame Etolarac

  Weeping soul is made of goat legs, human torso and a tree for the head. He performs on the uni cycle, and does other things like juggling. In this image he is holding a dying rose. I looked into flower meanings to try find one that means anything to do with deceit. These were the few i came across: Wormwood- absence, bitter sorrow. (absence of actual circus when you arrive) This plant is a herb that looks like pale small leaves, therefore wouldn't really stand out in his hand. Vervain- protection against evil. Used for medicine purposes this plant would connect to Dr Salem a little. Also adds an aurora of evil to the circus. The plant again is small purple flowers, can also come in white and blue. This is more of a likely option due to appearance. Thorn Apple (also known as Jimson Weed or Devils Apple)- disguise. Extra Plans and Refinements

   I thought the "Welcomes You" on all the posters wasnt enough to really push in the viewers face that everyone is welcome and really pull them in. I decided to come up with a couple more quotes to write on a few of the posters. Help drive home the idea of fun and everybody being welcome. I think "Best show on Earth" could suit Madame Etolarac as she is presented as the circus owner, therefore showing she is proud and confident of what she has created. I also felt that "fun for all ages" could fit for Mr Cadeys poster as that poster includes a child already visually. The other two i will decide when i have created the other posters to see what space there is depending on the shape/layout of the poster. Last of all, i think i should include the word "Free" in one of the quotes such as "Free for the entire family" as people love free things and would draw more people in.    I wrote out the possible order of the posters from light to...
