Dr Salem Poster
New official sketch for Salems poster i think works well with the triangle shapes. I added pencil lines again to mark out where the writing will go, this time the message will be in a semi circle under the hands as open palms that are offering you something is very inviting despite if it is dangerous.

Again i used this piece of scrap paper for colour swatches whilst mixing before actually using them on the poster. I used these two pieces for Creatures and Salems poster. The tissue again to clean or dry my brush when blending etc.

For the background i mixed red, dark brown and some black gouache paint to create a drying blood appearance, I painted it across the page to create lines in the paint to appear patchy and marked as if darker sections are drying compared to the lighter sections. I think this colour works quite well for the darker sides of the poster, it works well with the browns used in Weeping Souls poster whilst being the darker comparison to Creatures pink colour who actually features blood in the poster design.
To compliment the red i painted the triangles dark blue which features in a few posters like Cadeys navy coat, Creatures bowls and Kaens background. I created some bleeds in the blue paint into the skin to create a portal like appearance as if Dr Salem is emerging out of the triangles. I think this is quite effective and works well with the angle of the wrists which also aids the appearance of emerging out of the shapes.
Originally i wanted the gloves to appear leathery, however felt that wouldnt work without adding a lot of light shining on the material to create that appearance; that would be distracting from the gifts in his hands as Salem is supposed to be in the shadows sort of figure. Therefore will wear black clothes that wont catch the light. I do think that when i print this out the creases in the gloves wont show up due to being darker black on a slightly lighter black. As through this photo alone it is difficult to see the lines unlike in real life.
I decided for the grapes to be green due to the colour purple being too close to the red tones, additionally the eyes can match in eye colour. I wanted the eyes to appear a little more grey than an actual eye ball to appear older as if they are starting to mist over before actually reaching the pupil to not lose the eye colour. I personally think the grapes need to be bigger in Salems hand, however decided not to make them to size so they would not take away from the eyeballs. The visitor is supposed to pick one from Salem, therefore they need to be equal in size so one doesnt stand out more.
I didnt add a shine in the eyeballs as i felt there wasnt much light actually in this image so it didnt make sense to me to add a small bit, especially with the eyes already misting over.
This time round my pen was much easier to use, so i did the "Welcomes You!" message neatly but went for a more subtle messy appearance for the rest of the writing as the darker posters are supposed to be lacking in details and professional appearance. For instance i only did one layer of the writing so it appears a little see through with the background colour and patchy. Furthermore, the apostrophe on the "E" in Etolorac is cut off so it crosses over into the white border like the writing does for Cadeys and Weeping Souls as those two break out of the last border like the characters do.
Despite taking the photo with natural lighting washing out the lamp light, due to the dark colour scheme, it still picked up on the lamp light at a certain angle. I did remove the extra side of the triangle that shows on the first sketch on the outside. I decided to remove this 3D element as this is close to last in the dark side posters, therefore is supposed to be lacking border details.
Next i will line up all my posters in order to see if they need rearranging again due to colour schemes.
