Circus Tent

Following the plans i made earlier, i began with the walls of the tent. I did attempt to cut out a shape with the walls and roof attached to each other and hoped that folding them in a certain way would help the ceiling into a cone shape. Unfortunately this didnt work so i reverted back to the original plans. I cut out the rectangle following the measurements i had planned. I glued the striped paper to it before gluing one edge to create a cylinder shape.

I cut a line in the striped paper to see if i could fold them back like curtains for the door. I decided this didnt look effective as it made the door appear too small. It would probably need a bigger door to have space for side curtains, however i didn't have that space here. I folded the paper back to keep the door the same size. I also glued some striped paper at the back, inside the tent to cover the paper seen through the door.
Next i cut out a circle slightly bigger than the tent size. After folding this into a cone shape, i thought the cone point was too low. Instead i drew around this dirty paint pallet; after folding it into a cone shape, i proceeded to cut down the edges until it fit on to the top. I used tape on the inside to secure it down.

Again i covered the acrylic paper in the striped tissue paper and then added a fold to the edge, using zigzag scissors to create an edge. I wanted this fold to be slightly bigger than planned to fill the tall gap from the door. It is slightly crooked as it was fiddly to stick down around a circular shape. To improve it, it could be easier to cut the striped paper out wider so the fold is already attached, Then when it is placed into a circular shape, if i cut small slips into the fold it will help it fold down.

I proceeded to cut out more shapes from the scrap striped paper for the sides of the tent and the little roof covering before the door. I painted cocktails stick black and cut a few in half/ or to size needed. Then glued and rolled the paper around the stick for the pitches. I felt the black would appear more professional rather than the wood colour that stood out, adding an unnecessary colour to the black n white. It was incredibly difficult to add the little fold to the door shelter as the paper was tiny. I painted more cocktail sticks black for the flags that will be on the sides of the path leading to the tent. They will be various sizes, starting of small and growing as they lead up the path. Additionally, the first few flags could have some colour picked up from the posters before, they becomes washed out of colour/ black n white.
I found an electric tea light and some wire fairy lights. The tea lights base does get in the way in the light showing through the door. I could dig a small hole to hide the base in the soil.
I really like the idea of using the fairy lights around the tent and across the flags leading up to it. Originally i thought i could make tiny bunting. I have decided that this will be too difficult as they would need to be tiny, Furthermore i think the bunting flags will interfere with the already present flags. Therefore the fairy lights could replace them to follow up the path, and light it up at night.

However, i do not know how to make the fairy lights sit right around the tent itself, It needs to be hanging on the fold not on the ceiling. The wire makes it difficult to sit naturally. Instead of going around the tent i could create lines going up the tent to the centre flag like this. This way will probably appear more eye catching as it will light up more around the tent. Although i am not sure how the flag up top will handle with so much wire wrapped around it to create all the light lines.
